TOUR TIPON–CHINCHERO–MORAY WITH HORSES - 5D / 4N
FIRST DAY
Early in the morning, like at 7 am, we
leave Cusco with a private mini-bus, towards the village of Tipon. Once
there, the horses are waiting for us to start the tour.
Tipon is an Inca place situated at the beginning of one valley; it consists in some splendid terraces used as agricultural place; the archaeological site is big enough and visiting it you can understand how ingenious were the Incas in their constructions and in their systems of irrigation: from a hole in the mountain comes water, through a canalization’s system, it’s expanded in many small canals that go everywhere into the valley.
Will have a guided tour with our guide and he’ll explain the history of Tipon. Once we finish the visit we ride towards Huacoto, where we will camp in order to pass the night.
SECOND DAY
After the breakfast, we take our horses and we continue the tour; we will go through the pass of the Picol’s mountain (3,700 m.a.s.l.), therefore we’ll go towards the small village of Matinea.
At 12 o’clock we will arrive to Cochahuasi, where we will stop in order to have our lunch. On the way we will be able to appreciate the beauty of these places, with the Andes that are all around us and we can’t’ see the end of ; from here we can have a nice view of Cusco.
After the lunch and a nap, we continue our tour; we will pass the Kayarayan’s mountain in order to arrive in the village of Patabamba, where we will pass the night with a local family.
THIRD DAY
After a good breakfast, we’ll leave the village. Afetr riding for 4 hours we’ll stop at Pucamarca for the lunch. Then we go towards Juch' uy Qosqo (3,550 m.a.s.l.); here there is an incredible panorama : on the other side of the valley you can appreciate the incomparable beauty of the Pitusiray, almost always covered of snow and at the bottom the village of Calca . Here there will be our camp- site for the night.
FOURTH DAY
We ride our horses to continue our tour. Today we’ll arrive at the village of Chinchero, where we will pass the night.
On the way, we will be able to meet lama and alpaca that live there and will go through a pass at approximately 4.500 meters a.s.l. Once crossed the pass, we’ll stop for the lunch.
Arriving in Chinchero, we will set our tents in a camp-site in order to pass the night.
FIFTH DAY
Last day of this tour with horses.
We leave Chinchero towards the archaeological site of Moray, where we will arrive after approximately 15 km.
The agricultural terraces show us the Maya’s knowledge as engineering systems. In an enormous river basin they have obtained terraces of different levels; each one has a different microclimate, depending of its depth and for this reason they think that the Incas have used this place in order to discover what kind of vegetables and plants were possible to cultivate.
We’ll have a guided tour and late in the afternoon we come back to Cusco with our mini-bus at 7 o’clock approximately.
